BACS withdrawal

Anyone know if its possible to send money to someone via BACS if you only know there debit card number?

Managed to sell some shares today and request payment via BACS, apparently the payment has been processed. I have never given this company my account number/sort code before so not sure how BACS can be used. I assume the debit card that I used to deposit money is the same for withdrawing money. Just trying to put my mind at ease!

There's a massive difference between bacs paymebts and withdrawing back to a debit card, they aren't the same.

But companies can send money back to credit / debit cards, countless businesses do it, one of the main ones being gambling sites who do it thousands of times a day

Are you sure? All of the online share traders I use require you to provide a sortcode and account number specifically so that they can send withdrawals to you.

They may well be able to send the money to your card, and it will appear in your account, but it won't be a BACS transaction.
