Morning gemmacots,
Thank you all for the replies so far.
I agree, when changing supplier it's always best to do comparisons in kWh it makes it more accurate.
The amount you've been paying hasn't been enough to cover the usage, therefore, when we've received an accurate read it's caused what we call a 'catch up' bill.
On the bills it will show a 'E' so you know the bill has been estimated and we would ask for some meter reads.
You can pop the reads online, you can then also use the Direct Debit manager tool. This lets you increase or decrease the payment amount by 20% with reads and 5% without.
I understand from your post that you had an accurate bill in October, was this for both gas and electricity? Was there any notice on there about contacting us to change the payment amount? Or were you already in the process of changing supplier?
Depending on the dates, will depend if the account has actually fully left us, we would normally expect payment on receipt of a final bill, or it may be taken from your bank if the Direct Debit is still in place. It will say on the final bill how it's due to be collected.
There are some cases where we may allow a slightly longer period to pay the bill, it will depend on the specifics and I would suggest asking to speak to the credit operations team here.
Thank you
