Gas & Electric: Moving home this Friday...

I will be moving home this Friday and i am trying to sign up with British Gas for both via quidco to get the £60 cashback.

However it doesnt give me an option of selecting a start date, am i right in thinking that the electricity and gas will be running when i move in and regardless of who i choose as provider i will still have an initial bill from the current provider as it will take british gas 28 days to make the switchover?

Hello N2... , I would stay with your sellers GAS & ELECTRIC company until you recieve the first bill and have moved in. The sellers and buyers take E and G readings on moving day and procedures have to be followed. Changing over names to the address. When that is all done you are then free to change supplier. I believe if you try to change things, you might find yourself with no power  .

Good luck with a smooth move.
