Hi
I just ordered some MR16 LED bulbs that are AC12v and I just realised my transformers are DC12V.
Will the bulbs still work or shall I cancel the order?
Thanks

From whence did you buy?
Give them a call/email/text/chat and ask them!
LEDs (the semiconductor light emitting component) only work on DC and from ac they need a driver circuit so it depends upon what is in the package you have bought!
If you cannot get in touch second best is to post on here the make and model of what you have purchased.0 -
You post does not make sense. Transformers, by definition transform AC from one voltage to another. They will not put out DC voltage unless there is rectifier in the output circuit.
However, I have just looked at my spare MR16 LED lamps and they are marked 12vAC/12vDC. So they will work on either supply. The LED lamps presumably have a rectifier built in.
I changed all my halogen mr16 bulbs(21 in all) for 7watt LED's. They all worked ok on the old transformers. I have only changed a couple to dedicated LED drivers as and when the old transformers became faulty.0 -
But most "transformers" these days are really switched-mode power supplies, which put out DC.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
