Girlfriend needs help

My girlfriend owes £900 on her credit card, if I pay it off for her will she have to tell the working tax credits that I have done this? She is worried if I pay it off there will be a link and HMRC may investigate as to why I have paid it off as a gift to her?

It's nothing to do with HMRC, there's no way they will even know.
Contrary to popular opinion HMRC do not employ thousands of people to comb through the bank and credit card accounts of random people.0 -
You can pay it. It won't cause any problem for her.0

You can gift her as much money as you want.
Her benefits may be lowered if she breaching thresholds for savings0 -

If you pay off her Credit Card make sure she breaks it up and doesn't apply for another card.0
