Rejected insurance claim

My dog was very ill in October, vet said HGE vets bills came to £1200. previous to this she had a vomiting episode in June, one quick visit to vet for anti sickness meds and all was fine.
I switched insurance companies in August and the new company have rejected my claim as my vet has said it's related to previous illness.
I have spoken to the vet today as when I checked with them before I submitted the claim, they said it wasn't related. The vet is now saying its a 'grey' area and cannot definitley say if it is or is not related. She said she would write back to my insurance company and state this.
Any ideas on how I could fight this with my vet and or insurance company. The two illness were 5 months apart and one was vomiting where the other was haemorrhaging and vomiting. If the vet can't say for certainty if it is or is not related how best do I approach this with insurance company?

You go through the complaints procedure, which should be explained in your policy booklet.
If you et a final rejection from the insurance company you can then refer your complaint to the Ombudsman, who will adjudicate on the claim.0 -
