Hi All,
I would have tried this in the "Scotland" forum but it seems very quiet so I thought I would try here. Does anyone recommend any good hotels in Edinburgh, looking for somewhere around February time.
Thanks.

Depends probably how you define "good".
We stayed in the Travelodge Princes Street for 3 nights last month, and I though it was pretty perfect. The Hotel has pretty much been built into a very old building, with some rooms facing Princes Street and some the facing away from it. The reception is in a small alley off Princess street, but safe.
We just thought the location was perfect. Opposite of the main Station, the Hop On/Hop Off Buses were within 100m, pretty much on one of the main Shopping Streets and within easy walking distance of all the tourist sites. There were also a lot of decent restaurants within easy walking distance. Hotel itself was in good condition, but will obviously always be a Travelodge. I was with 2 kids, and for us it was just perfect, especially considering that we only paid about £60 a night.0 -
Luckily enough bar valentines Edinburgh being a tourist city is cheap at that time of year. I know you didn't mention food but go to Jollys on Elm Row (just down from Omni Centre/John Lewis) £6.50 for a 3 course meal and good service, sure gets bad reviews now and again mostly people saying it feels like home cooking rather than posh restaurant but I disagree and even if true for the price giving the quality its amazing!
Had chicken with salad and potatoes, minestrone and dessert of pears in wine.
For hotels I stayed in 4 Travelodges in Edinburgh, bland expensive and very noisy, so unless you want the cheapest room you can get id recommend elsewhere.0 -

Lovely hotel and great staff/
Looks nice but £630 for bed and breakfast for four nights at the end of February is very much out of my budget.0 -
Depends on your dates really as Scotland have 2 'big' home matches during February in this seasons six nations.
I stayed in an apartment when we went & it worked out £250 for a 2 bed apartment for 3 nights - £41 pppn.Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,

We were in Edinburgh last week and stayed in the Apex City Hotel in Grassmarket, about a 10-15 minute walk to Princess Street, very nice hotel, the room was lovely.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0

Stayed there once and had a room at the front overlooking Grassmarket. The noise from outside was horrendous and went on till after 4.00am. It was at a weekend and Grassmarket is "lively".Would never choose to stay in that area over the weekend.0 -

If you're looking for stuff to do while you're there you might want to visit this portal page

It's the Edinburgh page of the astonishingly useful

I have to say that despite their blandness, travelodge/chain-type places have one big plus in their favour - reliability.
I have never been mucked about on a booking by them in the same way that seems to be routine with city-based hotels, who always seem to find some 'problem' that can only be solved by your paying more or accepting a poorer quality alternative like a guesthouse in the sticks.
The central travelodges can be a bit 'hen-night hell' though, I agree - stayed in the airport one a few months back and it was surprisingly fine/quiet but despite being near the trams, it may be a bit too far?0
