I could also hear the church clock chime and that was 100 metres away. I suspect the council would laugh if I had tried reporting that as "noise nuisance"

    Not necessarily.

We had some people come to stay in the summer. In the morning they asked "how do you sleep with all that noise in the morning" I was puzzled so asked "what noise" "All those birds at the crack of dawn."

I'll report to the RSPB that the dawn chorus is a noise nuisance, and can they kindly move all their birds away from residential areas.

You joke but in seaside towns they are looking at ways to reduce the amount of seagulls mainly due to mess and attacks but also due to noise.
