Umm, yes I do have Firefox, but had forgotten it. As for protection, my s-I-l has an £80 version of MacCafe and he has included my laptop and mobile on it. I have remembered that I read about a browser called Brave and installed it but didn't like the look and feel of it, I wonder if it changed a setting. Anyway, the laptop is now put away for a month, till we return. Will be using my phone abroad. Thanks for help.

I would recommend https://www.slimjet.com but enable the adblocker > settings > ad blocker > tick enable ad blocker.

It is based on google chrome, very fast and from their web page 'help'...

"Slimjet is a fast, smart and powerful web browser built on top of the Chromium open-source project (on which Google chrome is based as well). It adds more options to Chromium to make it more flexible and customizable. It also integrates more features to Chromium so that users can get more done in less time without relying on external plugins.

Almost all of the features in Chromium have been kept in Slimjet to ensure compatibility. Most plugins and extensions designed for Chrome should work just fine in Slimjet. You can install any extension and theme from Chrome web store directly onto Slimjet."

Little bit of update. I am now trying out IE11. So far so good. I would like to see less adverts, any idea's which would be suitable on this W10 laptop please?
Use Firefox/Chrome/Edge with the uBlock origin extension installed.
