Combi or condenser?

4-bedroom town house over 3 floors. 2 bathrooms - one with bath and electric shower then ensuite with shower only. House is roughly 15 yrs old and has original boiler. We’re looking at replacing current boiler and need to decide between combi or condenser. We’re all shower takers but rarely use both bathrooms at the same time. What would you advise in our circumstances?

I don't think you mean condensor as all boilers have to be condensing boilers.
I would not get a combi for the reasons I have given here:

and also because you won't be able to have 2 showers at the same time if you need to.0 -
Do you need a new boiler? Our boiler is nearly 30 years old and still does the job.0

Agreed. Ours is 20 years old as is fine. OP, what boiler do you have?0 -
What’s wrong with your current boiler?0

As I have said in your other thread, the right combi and high water pressure will easily give two showers.0 -
Ok. The current boiler works well when it works but I’ve had the engineer out several times a year over that last couple of years to replace one part or sometimes more than one thing and on two occasions have been without heating/hot water for up to 5 days waiting for parts etc. (We are lucky to have an electric shower in the main bathroom so have been able to use that and have used portable heaters in the bedrooms.) It’s in breakdown mode at the moment -since Saturday - and with the cold temperatures I just want heating to be more reliable. I’ve been told by more than one engineer that parts will start to become unavailable and so I’m preempting that by looking at alternatives.
Would I still be able to have an electric shower and a combi?0 -
It’s a Potterton Suprima.0

Keep it, it’s bulletproof. I would say apart from the initial pcb problem they had, which was rectified with a modified pcb they are one of the most realiable boilers I’ve ever worked on.0
