Mortgage PPI & Life Insurance

Hi All
My partner and I have recently purchased our first property and we're currently trying to navigate the minefield that is mortgage protection insurance and life insurance.
We would like to be covered for accident, sickness and unemployment. But we would also like to have life insurance so that if the worst were to happen to one of us then the other wouldn't have to worry about mortgage.
Does anyone know which companies provide these two things combined? I've read somewhere that this is called Total Mortgage Protection, but all of the price comparison sites only provide quotes for one or the other.
Is it "the norm" to have both insurances, or do most people just have one or the other?
I would've thought that these 2 products were quite closely linked so surely some insurers provide both together?
Or does it work out better to take out two different policies (one for mortgage payment protection and one for life assurance)?
I hope all this makes sense - I'm starting to confuse myself :-)
