Looks fine to me.
Is that a dishwasher or washing machine plumbed into it? as that may be the cause of the smell0 -
Thanks...a washing machine, the smell is only really noticeable when running water or emptying the sink, I was thinking the ubend looked to have quite an excessive ‘U’ to it.0

The washing machine waste is above the u-bend,might be the cause of the smell.0

Have you taken the u bend apart? Give it a clean out and a soak in a little bleach.0

It's all as it should be, an excessive "U" is a good thing, the washing machine pipe should enter above the "U" bend as it does.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Clean the ubend.
Either buy one of the over-priced drain cleaning bottles and pour it in, or, better, put a bucket underneath and dismantle the ubend, cleean it, and re-assemble.

No but will do now.
Thanks, tried looking on the web but didn’t find much to go on.EssexExile wrote: »It's all as it should be, an excessive "U" is a good thing, the washing machine pipe should enter above the "U" bend as it does.
Tried one of these and yes it was expensive, so off it comes and I’ll take a look.

Bit of bio washing powder, scrape, bit of bleach overnight, tip I'd down the sink.... realise that's the sink without a U bend, clean up, dry under sink, wash hand... oh cripes! repeat until sorted....
If you are a beginner at plumbing like this, take lots of photos. A single drop of washing up liquid helps lubricate all the screw threads, so they tighten smoothly... don't overtighten. Dry it all, tip a little clean water down, test for dryness with a bit oif loo roll...
Next, you'll be replumbing the bath and changing radiators!0
