BT Homehub 5 query

I have been given a home hub 5 after upgrading from 3 version.
It seems fine after plugging it in, all devices iPhone, iPad and iMac working, wouldn't say it is any different to be honest.
However, when I checked on my mac today it shows that although I have full wireless signal and is ticked, there is another one showing underneath which is the same number but ending in 5G and not ticked.
what exactly does this second version mean?
Probably just a coincidence but since I have used the new hub I keep getting the spinning beachball and have to switch off my mac.
Looked at all the reasons why and I don't seem to fit any criteria mentioned on the web.

Those routers broadcast on 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz
5 is faster (over shorter distance) but some (older) devices cant communicate at that frequency
2.4 is slower but can reach further
The average user is unlikely to notice the difference between the two0 -
Thanks for that, I wasn't sure if i needed to switch something over on the hub.
quite happy with it really, just wanted to know if it was working as it should be.0 -
Use 5G as well if possible. Far less congestion on 5GHz.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Not sure how I could use that as well?
The original one at 2.4ghz came in automatically.
because of the layout/wall depth of our house although modern, caused a few problems with router placement.
also our distance from the box in our village comes into speed/strength etc.0
