Wrong case for kindle sent-best way to proceed?

Hi,

I know £4.90 is probably not a lot to have spent on a case for a kindle fire 8 inch on ebay, but nevertheless I ordered it on 26 nov, item location was marked as London, (main reason for ordering it from this seller) only got case today, its a case for a 10 inch kindle, so no use to me., rechecked my order which is correct.

The seller I think is based in China, but somehow manages to make the item look as if it was posted in UK, even feedback says this a well.

I have now ordered a case on amazon.

Whats the best way to get this seller to refund me? If he wants item back then I am more than willing to send it to him, provided he pays for postage, would a post office receipt be good enough proof that I have returned it, if it does go to a ebay or paypal dispute?

Thanks a lot.

If it is Ebay then just open a not as described case. They will either supply you with a pre-paid label or tell you to keep it. I would not mess around with messaging them if they are a big seller as they most likely won't bother to respond.

They are most likely China based but have a UK shipper. Am always a bit wary of these as a couple of times I have had an item sent from China (presume it is out of stock in UK).

Just open a case on ebay for Item not as described, seller will need to provide a pre paid label for the return if they want it back.

Thanks a lot for replies. Late last week as I hadn't received the case I sent a message through ebay, the seller did get back to me and said give it a few more days which I agreed to, as I stated above it came today but wrong item.

When I go to resolution centre it says one case still open for item not received, and even though I click some of the links I can't seem to find any links to start a dispute, I just keep being redirected back to the resolution centre, with item not received. I did send another message to seller today, explaining about wrong item, so just waiting for a reply if he chooses to do so.

If I have to how can I take this further, as it just says item not received, in the resolution centre, but that is changed now, its just wrong item.

Sorry for asking , but I don't use the ebay dispute service very often, or is that the same as the resolution centre?
    Thanks a lot everybody.
  • Just a little update on this, he replied and said to keep the case, and try and sell it on (Totally of no use to me, I had to buy one for £10.50 on amazon) has agreed to refund £3 but wants me to close case with ebay first, which I have refused to do, as he can probably tell me then, just take a running jump

Small amount of money but probably believe in principle of thing more than any thing else.
    Thanks

If you don't want to keep the case and you want a full refund the seller will have to pay for the return postage.

If I understand your post you have an INR case open. Close it if you are sure it is an INR case (item not received). Then open a SNAD (significantly not as described) case with eBay. The seller will have to refund you or give you a prepaid returns label.

Do NOT close the SNAD case if you have one open.
  • Thank you, Now if I understand correctly.

So as its wrong case for kindle, and I had opened INR case, it is ok to close this, then to reopen it again under SNAD (significantly not as described)

I was under the impression I could have only one go at this, and once a resolution dispute was open and subsequently closed, then I couldn't reopen another dispute for the same item?

So I am wrong in this?
    Thanks
  • You can only have one "go" for INR and one "go" for SNAD on eBay, but to complicate matters you can have a second "go" for each on Paypal.

If you have an INR open, close it. Then open a SNAD, hopefully you've done that on eBay. Although it wouldn't be catastrophic if you've done it on Paypal.

If they ask you to send it back to another UK address, not the one Ebay tells you, don't do it.

I am betting their account registered address is in China even if they shipped the item from a UK distributor.

You must only return to their registered address that Ebay would provide with a pre-paid return label.

If you hold out on your SNAD the seller won't want to pay maybe £15 for tracked return postage to China and will simply refund in full without you needing to do anything.

Offering you £3 for an item of no use to you is a joke but I suppose it doesn't cost them anything to try initially.
