Delonghi kettle repair !

Hi All, I have been asked by my daughter to have a look at her Delonghi cordless kettle (KBO3001) which has stopped working (don't know how old it is), I checked continuity from the plug to the kettle base and that was OK, I then took the actual base off the kettle (3 security screws) and found the heating element was integral to the kettle case and had gone open circuit, and going onto the Delonghi spares website the only spares were a lid or a filter ! and a replacement kettle was £104 ! So you buy an expensive kettle and then find out when it breaks you have to bin it ! :( So I will recommend she goes to asda etc and buys a cheap one for £10 and saves money.

From memory I think Which came to the same conclusion with electric kettles, may as well buy cheap because the dearer ones are just looks and not linked to reliability

  • Same with toasters, you can't replace the wire element so may as get a £6.99 job
  • We had one of those, didn't last much longer than 12 months. By contrast my Tefal Vitesse was still going strong after almost 20 years, sadly even that has taken to switching off before it boils sometimes.

Next kettle will be no more than £25.

I can beat that, mine is over 25 years old. Obtained it with Esso tokens :)
