Accident - Other driver has not reported it

About 10 days ago my wife was involved a minor accident where a skip lorry reversed into her . My wife only got the other drivers name and telephone number and registration. We also were lucky enough that a next door neighbour saw this happen and provided a witness statement. We have reported to our insurers who have not had much luck from the other party as it seems the other driver did not report it ( there was no damage on the lorry) . Apparently they have up until the 20th December to try and get the other insurance to admit liability. Failing which it will go to the underwriters and we will have to pay the excess . From the conversation with the insurance this could take ages whilst in the meantime we are left with a damaged car which is not our fault . Is there any way to speed up the process . Would it be worth it for me to ring the other drivers company direct ? One last thing the number plate came back as belonging to a Green Volvo rather than a 10 tonne skip lorry !!!

Have you contacted the skip company to make them aware of the incident and try to resolve the number plate issue? Could it have been taken down wrong? Might be worth a trip to their place of business to try and get the basic facts right and maybe ID the truck that hit your car.0

Have you tried the askmid website to see if their is insurance on the vehicle?0 -
Thanks very much for your help. It is shown as insured on the askmid website and is shown as a Volvo truck . The gov mot checker just said green Volvo hence the confusion . I have also phoned the company and they are looking into it. So hopefully resolved .0
