Wood burner/warming roof/melting snow.

This week has been the first heavy snow we've had since installing our wood stove.

The heat from the chimney seems to have warmed the loft enough to melt the snow which has caused mini-avalanches - the snow has just slid down en masse and wedged in the guttering resulting in damage. :(

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any suggestions about preventing future damage to the guttering?

Would it be safe to put insulation around the chimney in the loft - I'd rather have damage to the guttering than cause a fire!
