Can’t open any basic account/Student Loan /CIFAS marker?

about 6 months ago I lost my debit card and money was transferred into my account from a random source then withdrawn straight away. I then called up nationwide to tell them I’d lost my card and that money was withdrawn from my account, I told them that it was not me who withdrew the money, they deemed this as fraud and closed my account and I think they’ve issued me with a cat 6 Cifas fraud marker, I tried to dispute it but it’s a very complicated procedure, however I need to get this sorted before my gap year ends and my term starts in sept 2018, all high street banks are declining me and if I do not have a debit card I can not get a student loan which will just make my life very difficult. What are my options because I am genuinely lost, confused and worried. Any help is appreciated

Check your CIFAS files to see exactly what is there.0

Is that as simple as writing to them with the £10 charge?0

It is that simple, 10 quid and details. And from odd questions, how long did it take you to report the lost card, and how quickly after losing it were the transfers made? Also, well, how did they have a pin code for your card, or were the withdraws done some other way?0

Sounds like a classic 'money mule' account. Good luck getting the marker removed - you'll need it.0

Sounds fishy. They would need more than just those details to access your account.0

Just the card to put money in, but to get it back out they would have needed the pin. Or in branch they would have needed more details than just a card.

Are you disputing its fraud or the fact they put a CIFAS marker on your file. What's the reason for your dispute? Did they withdraw your money as well or only the amount that was put in for a random source. If you genuinely lost the card and a victim then you need to cooperate with their investigations. Often in these cases a victim is duped into allowing someone to use their card, telling them to report it stolen/lost and offer a reward for using the account. If this is the case maybe you didn't realise the consequences, but it might be a hard lesson in life.0
