Switching from Utilita to First Utility

Hi everyone. I recently moved into a property that has prepayment gas and electric via Secure Smart Meters. Utilita is the energy provider. I have never used prepayment meters before. They are eating money at a ridiculous rate (particularly the gas) and I would like to switch to a credit meter asap.

I read on OVO Energy's website that "Secure Smart Meters" are used by themselves, E.ON, First Utility and Utilita. It says that if you want to switch between any of those, the smart meter may still work providing its the same model and manufacturer.

I would like to switch to First Utility. It would be fantastic if I didn't need to have new meters installed. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks for your time.

Yes they take your meter reading (press 9 on meter) and process a COS Gain to take on the Smart meter once you come onto supply with them. They may be able to off you a Credit Tariff to replace the PAYG one as its a Smart Meter and won't need a Meter exchange
