Do you think you would need a lot of support needs to be offered a social services support package or supported accommodation? Have you been offered support from social services or are you left without no support but actually need it? Do you think the criteria is hard to meet Do you get direct payments. Do you think having a support package helps a person receive benefits especially if you have a support manager and social worker to fill in forms plus a care plan?

Why do you wish to know?0

I currently get direct payments, 10 hours a week. It depends on the social worker, somewhat. I've had my care cut, increased, cut then increased. Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE0

I get 21 hours one to one a week plusses to 55 shared hours between 3 other people. I live in supported living and eventually want to move into independent living. My needs will have to go to panel again. I would hope I still get my 21 hours plus a 4th of the 55 hours. I was wondering if its harder for people living independently to get direct payments.0

Your needs will be assessed in the same way irrespective of where you are living.
Are you concerned with maintaining essential support or keeping your bennies?0 -
For that level of care I imagine all your DLA or PIP will be taken to pay for it. If you were in a private rented place you'd probably have to top up your rent and possibly council tax as well.
I'd say the chances of you having that level of help and being able to save up to go to India would be zero.
Maybe you could ask one of your support workers to do a rough calculation for you.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

He's on a community treatment order following being sectioned, as I understand it from his previous threads he gets a lot more care than he would in the community and the financial calculation is different. I think he gets the care and doesn't have to contribute to it from his DLA/PIP.
Please bear in mind that he's quite seriously ill and his questions here are geared towards trying to carry out plans which his care team have deemed to be delusions resulting from psychosis. He's non compliant with medication and social services are his appointee for benefits. It doesn't matter whether he wants to 'keep his bennies' (horrible phrase IMO), as it's not in his control.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Much as it seems natural to do so OP, the way that you're most likely to be able to make more of your own choices in the future is to comply with your treatment order now. It's in place for your protection, and or that of others. They're not imposed without a great deal of thought, cost and professional input.0

I would like to go direct payments and employ my own staff. Here at my house we have seen 18 staff leave in 7 years and I don't want to make a effort with the new staff anymore. Social services are my appointee so they can budget my direct payments. I asked my supported living manager if I could move to smaller property that has come available which is run by the same care company but she's putting obstacles in the way saving she won't approve it because their is no sleep staff at that property. I was allocated a new temporary social worker from the LD team (mine is off ill) and I had a fall out with her because she was also making it difficult for me to move.
I feel stuck in my life. I desperately want to travel to India but it feels like I'm in prison and I feel trapped. They renewed my CTO for one year this time and I have been doing okay. That pees me off.
I don't have to pay for my support staff or day centre because its a LD NHS day centre which is better them social services day services. I have never been to a medical but am worried about going to one. My socail worker said I shouldn't but I hear all the horror stories.0
