Keeping dog food fresh

HI all, got an 8 month old Cockapoo called TEddy. In order to keep his food costs down but provide him with a top quality grain free kibble, I bought a 15kg bag. I want to decant it but what do I put it in to keep it fresh? Any ideas?

I just keep mine in the bag, or maybe decant into large plastic containers (the excess stays in the sack). I think my bags last maybe 4 months. As long as you are keeping it in a cool place it should be absolutely fine.

Just look at the expiry date......yes, I know that is in a sealed bag, but this stuff has a long shelf life.

Keep it in the bag in a cool, dark place.

If you wish you could take out a few days worth at a time to keep handy in a sealed box in the kitchen.

You can buy dog food bins- look on Google.

I use the plastic storage containers as when they were left in the bag the mice came calling.

Pet manufactures have designed their bags so pet food stays in the bag. Just store in a cool place.

Thanks for all of the replies but I have decided to get a dry storage bin. Will keep a few days out in a sealed kitchen container.

Keep the food in the bag when you store it in the bin.

Sounds like a good plan. I put pegs on an opened 12kg sack and keep it in something like this in my conservatory/utility. Then decant a weekly amount into a large tin with a top which I keep in the kitchen. Seems to keep well.
