Considering this is a UK site with most of the members also being brits and having contents insurance I can assure you it really is a “thing” here and something all responsible adults have.0 -

I have contents insurance as I’m sure 80% of this forum does. You really should consider it.
I very much expect Argos will check the laptop and if they find the damage you’ve suggested they may even consider calling the police, you’d be breaking the law. It’s fraud. As is buying insurance retrospectively and claiming.
I suggest you stop with the criminality and be more careful in the future.0 -

Do any power lights come on atall when this is plugged into the power adapter ?Bristoling wrote: »I have asked in Laptop repair shop about best course of action and the guy said just to get it into original packaging and return it to Argos under their 30 day return policy and never mention anything about any damage, instead to get money back or say I need something better and get different model.Bristoling wrote: »There is also a cover, 2 year Breakdown Care laptop 600 to 799, that I could buy for £150 (sorry as new poster I cannot provide a link), however, I do not know if it covers for accidental water damage. I could buy the plan, wait a week or two and return the laptop claiming replacement, don't think there is a way for them to find out if the accident happened before or after buying the care plan.
Your IT guy seems to have given you a fair price.
Take him up on it0 -

In the past I believe you had to take the item in for checking if buying the breakdown cover at a later date dont know if that is still the caseFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Don't ever trust anything that laptop shop guy says to you as a customer. He's a crook.0
