Smart Parking Fine for a 13 minute stay, help please!

Hi,
Please could someone offer some advise. I've just got home to find a parking notice from a 13 minute stay at B & M bargains store in Morley,Leeds. I literally flew into the shop as I had my autistic son in the car who refused to get out so I only ran in to get a couple of things, not wanting to leave him in the car too long. The queues were huge so had to wait some time to get served. I grabbed my stuff paid and left. I've just rung the store who told me they have pay and display which I totally did not see when I entered the car park, I've not visited that store before.
Does any one know if I can appeal, is there a grace period?
I'm so upset, they've asked me to pay £60 now or £100 after 2 weeks 😥
Any advise is appreciated

Does any one know if I can appeal?
The NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1, has a ready made appeal for you. Use and then bone up on POPLA which will be your next port of call (see post #3 of the above sticky) when Smart reject your appeal.
Yes, there are two - but not designed for popping into a shop to do your shopping. But read up on them and see if you can work anything with them at POPLA. The information is in Clause 13 of the BPA Code of Practice.is there a grace period?

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Is the NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST thread, with the template appeal for all cases pre-written, invisible today?
Smart are soooo easy to beat we would all laugh if we got one of their 'PCNs' in the post.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi, I fought ParkingEye over an 10 minute 48 second stay and they eventually backed down at the very last minute, put in an appeal and if its rejected you should get a POPLA code, read all you can on here, my POPLA appeal was also rejected, but I had gone shopping without my purse so had no means to pay and was determined to have my day in court.
