I’ve paid my aqua card bill early

My statement has been generated and aqua expected to take the balance by 20/12, but I’ve paid the full balance today. Will this not make a difference as it shows I can pay on time?

if you have a direct debit setup, you will probably find they still take the billed amount you agreed (minimum payment, full balance etc)

you will then have over paid leaving a credit on your account.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "Will this not make a difference as it shows I can pay on time?"

Are you hoping it will cause them to give you a credit limit increase, reduce the interest rate, or what?

OTOH, if your DD is set up to pay the full amount, they shouldn't take anything.

I don’t have a Direct Debit set-up because I paid manually, so am expecting a tiny handling charge too.

I’m new to the credit card ‘scene’ so will have to instruct aqua probably to make sure they don’t take double the amount.

Confusion: You say you don't have a DD set up but in the opening post you say, "aqua expected to take the balance by 20/12" and in your last post you say, "make sure they don’t take double the amount."

If you don't have a Direct Debit set up, Aqua will not 'take' (collect) payments. You are expected to send the money to the card to arrive the latest by 20/12, which you have done already.
    So, nothing to worry about!

It makes no difference whether the payment arrives earlier or later, as long as it is not late (after 20/12). There is no handling charge either, unless you use the counter service of a bank you don't have an account with.

As the statement has been generated, your use of the card will show with one or more of the credit reference agencies, so no damage has been done as far as building a history is concerned.

The payment due date is just that, the latest date that a payment needs to reach them by. They cannot charge a penalty for paying early, in fact many holders of low limit, sub prime cards like Aqua do pay early so as to enable them to continue spending on the card.
