HIVE gravity fed set up question

I have removed our Honeywell and fitted the HIVE system.
I have a hub/reciever/thermostat. All installed, wired OK, working ok.
My set up is al follows
WB condenser boiler > pump > 3way valve > magnaclean > back to boiler.
At the 3 way valve the supply splits into the central heating circuit and the HW cylinder.
There is CWS in the loft and a smaller central heating storage/feed
I have the HIVE set up in gravity fed mode (blue light).
I can control hot water as normal.
However, whenever the central heating is on, the hot water light is on and it is heating the hot water as well.
Phoned HIVE who say that is supposed to be the behaviour in gravity fed made.
My previous programmer allowed totally independent control of HW and central heating.
Current HIVE set up means I have to have HW on when the CH is on.
Seems odd to me.
Would welcome suggestions.
One thought I have is that the receiver should be in normal mode (green light) because although gravity fed there is still a pump
