Lloyds TSB Visa with basic account

I have read that LLoyds TSB now pffer a 2in1 Visa debit card with their basic account, but there are two opinions on if you can get one?
(1) For this card they only do an 'Identity' check?
(2) For this card they still do aFULL credit check, no scoring though.
Which is correct? Can anyone from LLoyds TSB confirm? Or anyone got one of these cards with bad credit?

They will do full credit check.
You have to agree to this before they process the application.
You will get 2-1 debit card depending on your credit history.
Anything dodgy and you may just get a cashpoint card.0 -
Thanks! If you have a couple of defaults more than 3 years old what would be the chance?0

i think you should be fine. i have a default from this summer (well my twin sister has and they got us mixed up but thats another thread!) and i stil got a 2 in 1 debit cardQUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0 -
I thought the cash card was abolished, after the introduction to the debit card to the basic bank account....0

Then there are the ones who cannot get a decent account because they have screwed up their credit history and want a clean start or run away from debts at other banks.
The debit control card will be given to most applicants but those with any history of fraud or recently discharged bankruptcies will get the cashpoint card.
If they are not happy with this they will be told that they are quite happy to apply elsewhere!0 -

Great attitude...like it.....so some poor sod who goes bankrupt when people dont pay on time like my best friend was... "go and apply somewhere else"...no wonder people hate the banks and its staff is it?MBNA are a joke.

I feel exactly the same, what happens when you get made redundant at 55 and cant get another job, or your partner leaves you and you are budgeting together, and there are so many other examples. You attitude ejones is simply aberrant. I hope for your sake that if you are ever unfortunate enough to fall out of your tower, the people who are there to catch you dont have you attitudal problems (backed up with "I am simply saying it as it is"). kevster and smithja please enlighten me with what other banks offer then!
I guarantee you that a bankrupt won't get a debit card with any bank.0 -
That was not the point. The point was your comment "because they had screwed up their credit". That is a very large generalisation and has caused people as you will know to commit suicide due to their debts and the feeling there is no other way out, because of the bullying by the banks. Sorry if I was not clear about it in my response. James0

Why would anyone deliberately want to open a basic account?
I think you have a rose tinted view of people sometimes.
Debts are not created by banks but by people who borrow too much and don't have a plan B when it goes wrong.
I bet if your own bank turned you down for a loan or credit card you would go elsewhere - this is the underlying problem - credit is far too easily got and in a lot of cases to the wrong people.0
