Damaged Curry's New QLED TV

Hi
I've recently bought a new Samsung QLED TV from my local store and transported it home very carefully in my own car with aid from a Curry's assistant from the store to the car and then a short move from my car to the house with no stairs involved. I mounted it to the wall using the official samsung wall mount designed specifically for the model I purchased.
When switching it on there is clear damage on the right hand side of the screen but no apparent physical damage when it's not switched on.
When I ring Curry's the automatic service directs me to Samsung who say they can send out an engineer for a cost to examine and refund it if they think it's a fault and that I've not damaged it myself.
I read up a little about this and it seems quite common Samsung to put the blame on the owner and then charge a fee (almost as much as the TV) to repair it.
Is it within my rights to ask Curry's for an exchange without involving the manufacturer? What if they also try to place the blame on me?
Thanks
Steve

Take it back to the store and see what the response is.0

Is your car actually big enough to transport a TV upright? Because that’s how they should be transported, not laying flat. Was there any damage to the box at all? Did you get help carrying it in from the car? (I’m assuming it’s a large screen tv if you needed the help of one of the assistants to get it in the car in the first place). Did you lay it screen side down to attach the bracket to the back and if so what did you put underneath it to protect the screen? Also how long ago is recently? How far away from the edge of the TV is the damage? Could it be a fault with the frame or clear impact damage further in the screen?
If it is within 30 days then you do have the short term right to reject the TV if it is faulty but they may require you to prove that the damage was caused before it came into your possession. Go back to the store and see what they say, if it only happened within the last day or so they might just take your word that it was like that when it was unboxed, any longer and you’ll have a hard time proving it.0 -

Always buy from Richer Sounds. Swapped my faulty tv the next day with out a question being asked. Amazing service.0

I’ve reread and unless the store assistant got in OPs car and went to their home to help unload (which would be very unusual for somewhere like Currys) then there is nothing to suggest that there was any other help at the other end only loading into the car at Currys end.0 -
My guess is that he stood it near upright on rear seat, then slammed door shut and handle or arm rest hit TV.0

Is this still true for newer LED's?
I know it was with the older plasma TV's due to the balancing and heavy glass screens.
The bloke (manager) from my local Richer Sounds was quite happy to help me load my new LG 55" LED flat into my boot.
Quick google show the usual differing of opinion but some saying OLED's need the same treatment as plasma. :think:0 -

These days it’s less to do with the weight of the screens and more to do with how thin the TVs are, there’s very little room for movement inside and something like going over a speed bump could cause a vibration that causes another component to break the screen from the inside. It’s not as common as it used to be with plasmas but it does still happen.0
