Need to refund someone on paypal but no money in account

I recently sold an item on ebay but the buyer is claiming they never received the item.
I now have to refund them but my paypal has no funds, can I send funds to my paypal account via credit card?
Also can I send myself money without having to pay the fees? Gift payment or something like that.

You normally have the payment method set up on your PayPal account and it takes it automatically.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

Hi,
Yes just go to 'Add Funds' and load however much you need - bank transfer can take a few days so best to use a card.
There is no fee to add money.
Thanks,

Last time i did a refund with not enough money in my paypal, it initiated a bank transfer and delayed the refund - so in future i will add money first by card. It could have changed in the meantime.
Thanks.0 -
if you have your bank account linked the money will go instantly and will be removed from your bank account in 3 days via direct debit0

Cheers for the advice good people of MSE.
The item in question was £30, I'll add £30 to my account via a credit card, then click refund buyer and that should give the buyer their £30 back and I should get back my paypal fees of £1.22.0 -
It will keep 20p of the fees if the transaction was all in £.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

So theoretically could I use my credit card and add £50 to my paypal account. Then withdraw the £50 without paying a fee?
My credit card isn't linked to my paypal account.0 -

My credit card isn't linked to my paypal account.
There is a charge to load paypal with credit card, only debit cards and bank accounts are free0 -

It doesn't for me. The last return I had was a nightmare, I clicked to accept the return and refund buyer and it showed as pending for days - it got right to the last day still showing refund not having gone through so case open and ebay told me unless paypal got a move on the case would close as a defect to me. Absolute nightmare- in the end the refund went on the very last day before the case was going to close against me.
I have a direct debt for paypal plus cards attached, and the system just glitched and paypal and ebay left me in limbo.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
