Switching Suppliers/Warm Home Discount

Hi there, I have just done a comparison and it looks like the cheapest deal I have is with Outfox the Market. I have never heard of them. Does anyone have any experience of them (or any of the smaller ones)? I'm a bit reluctant to switch to a smaller one because of fear of the unknown, however, there seems to be no exit fees so I really have nothing to lose do I?

I also have another problem. I am entitled to the Warm Home Discount and I have been told by my supplier EDF that I will get it in about March time, but if I switch today does that mean I will lose the £140??

There should be a feedback thread for each supplier.
I remember the one for this supplier as it was posted a couple of days ago

    :)

If you are reluctant to switch to a small supplier you do not recognise #scrolldown

Pretty certain this new supplier does not operate the WHD scheme. So unless you'll save more than £140 between now and March, why would you switch to them?
  • You will lose the £140 WHD if you move before it is paid into your account. It's only paid to current customers.

It's a bit naughty not to pay it until March. Eon paid out in Oct/Nov.

Depends on whether you are in the core group (you get WHD automatically) or the broader group (you had to apply for WHD)

In the core group if you were a customer of a supplier who pays WHD on the cut-off date 9th July 2017 they pay it even if you switch to a different supplier.

In the broader group if you switch before the WHD payment is paid (credited to your account) you lose it. But you can keep it if you switch after the payment is credited to your account.

Outfox the Market do not provide WHD.

Here's what OVO says about it:
Can I get the Warm Home Discount if I leave OVO?

Core group – you’ll get the discount from whoever was supplying your energy on the 9 July 2017. If that was us, you’ll get the payment from us, even if you change energy suppliers.
Broader group – if you apply for the Warm Home Discount through OVO and then switch to another energy supplier, before we make the payment, your application will be cancelled automatically.
