Didn't they reply to you whilst you were on the phone to them?
I fear you may be waiting a long time if you are still expecting a reply. They have issued you an invoice. The ball is now firmly in your court.
Good luck!0 -
Key issue is, is it a proper bill with dates, meter readings etc? Or just a demand for money? If the latter ,then insist on a fully itemised bill - you can check their cloising readings against the first bill issued by the following supplier.0

Yes. Back billing rules.

So EDF can only make him pay for the last 12 month's energy he used while he was with that company;)0 -

If you had a final bill and they've now corrected it then the back billing rules don't apply.
They've got up to six years to correct their accounts, that's why you should keep your paperwork or PDFs of bills and payments even when you've switched. Perhaps not all of them but at the very least the final one. The same with bank account info.
If you dont keep records then you'll find it difficult to refute their claim, however you should ask for a fully itemised bill so you can try and get to the bottom of it.
The banks have to keep records of your account (just in case the tax man comes after you) so it might be worth getting copies of statements or ledger entries for around the date that you think you would have paid them - you'll probably have to pay for them thoughNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Thanks everyone - very helpful ...I'll be back on the phone to them tomorrow0
