Logburner

So currently I have a log burner in my basement, external flue up the side of the house.

In the room above it and to the left (by about 4 meters) is an original fireplace, currently with electric fire. The chimney is reverse Y construction, shared with another room (left again, also electric).

So you have mid floor: (FIRE ROOM 1) ((FIRE ROOM 2) ROOM)
Basemense: (room) (room) (logburner).

Still with me? :D

I'm considered replacing the middle room fire with a log burner. Has anyone done something similar? I know you can get liner kits but this is a split chimney so no straight drop. Is it possible to go straight though wall and join onto external flue? I can't see how that would work, I think it would get blocked up too easily.

thoughts?

Get in insalled and use the chimney, it doesn't have to be a straight drop, they're flexible.

Two burners on one flue is a bad idea. If you light the bottom one, the top one could start leaking carbon monoxide into the room.

    See https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/468872/ADJ_LOCKED.pdf paragraph 1.25.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Thanks both, I'll get some quotes to retrofit to old chimney!
