  • dont ever try to justfy charging over £20 for a £2 vaccine by going on about fridges staff ect, vets are renown for taking on young staff at national minimum wage especially young females, right tell me what car do you drive and tell me your postcode, i have never met a poor vet yet. except mr archibold, and the stinking vet profession done away with him, for there own gains

  • Hi, I make well under 40k a year and that's working for DARD. In practice I made about 30. That's compared to friends who are GPs and solicitors on upwards of 60k for less hours and better working environments. I live in a semi just off Cregagh road and drive a 2000 ford fiesta.
  • As far as the supplier is concerned, yes there is one main warehouse. The drug prices however are set by the individual drugs companies that supply it.

mr archibald was tricked out of bussiness by a vet clinic in lisburn, not to far from himself, due to charging sensible prices, there was no reason but greed, he always had the animals interest at heart, not your purse or your wallet, there is another fellow in lisburn i would recommend, advance vets, laws yard, moira road, lisburn, very nice chap better than overchargers beside texaco garage in lisburn

How was he tricked? Didn't he prescribe drugs he wasn't supposed to or something?

If you're talking about Lisburn Vets I have to say I've been with them over 17 years and find them excellent. They look after my animals with professionalism & genuine care. My dog absolutely loves them after having to stay in on two different emergencies. Initially their price list seems expensive but don't actually charge me the full appointment fee (frequent flyer!). The pup got a full check up, glands squeezed, nails trimmed and an antibiotic injection for under £20. They don't even charge me for the out of hours calls I've had to make for emergency advice and do everything to support me treating the hairy weans at home.

My parents have been with them even longer and have nothing but good to say about them, they've saved the lives of many of their dogs over the years (impaction emergency & several cancer surgeries).

I wouldn't like to see a poor vet, they work bloody hard in a profession that's so depressing & stressful they have high suicide rates. My animals get better care than I do on the NHS and at a fraction of the price private human healthcare costs.

He was the only vet my mum would take her last dog to as he wasn't in it for the money and although he was a bit loopy, he truely loved the animals.

Oh that's sad, my elderly friend was very fond of him. His practice was rare but he did love the animals and was telling me one day that he spayed all the feral cats that lived out the back. He was a right age wasn't he.

He also used to do a turn on Radio Ulster if I remember correctly, giving people advice. He was a real character and they're few and far between these days.
