ARGOS - pah!

I'm having horrendous time with Argos - ordered dishwasher & washer on 5th September, more fool us, but we wanted them interest free, which i could get with argos card and nowhere else so took the plunge.
Anyway, over 6 weeks later and STILL waiting for dishwasher. Received letter on 13th Sept. stating the two items would not be available until 13th October, though highly possibly before. Gave CS a ring and had a big moan, got the £4.95 delivery refunded - WOW! But was told there was no stock of either appliance and that we'd have to wait til 13th Oct. Rang up again on 28th September to see if any stock on horizon as was fed up of waiting and was told the washer had been in stock all along; it was the dishwasher not in so could have washer delivered whenver - was i p****d off, still no sign of compensation.
Waited patiently til 13th Oct and gave them a ring yesterday only to be told no dishwasher stock til 29th Oct. I am MAD! I went ape on the phone to the poor bloke whose fault it isn't but I have to vent it some way; he said it is unacceptable and they would be willing to compensate but not until the item has been delivered, what a joke. I threatened to cancel and would do if i could find same dishwasher elsewhere but looked all over web. I think this is disgusting and argos will not be having my custom again.
To wait this long and still be waiting is ridiculous and their abysmal offer of some kind of compo is a joke - 2 months for a dishwasher and to be compensated with what...£50 of argos vouchers that i have to spend there anyway.

I have to say I am the first to moan about poor service, but why exactly do you deserve "compensation"?
It was your choice to purchase from Argos, they informed you they had no stock, that then would have allowed you to cancel and go elsewhere for the items - but you want to stay with Argos because you are getting a freebie from them (0% finance), that is your choice!!!
I have always ordered washingmachines/fridges etc from the place that could deliver the quickest and were the cheapest.
If the items had broken down and you were left without facilities through no fault of your own then I could see some gesture of goodwill being made, but this case seems to be of your own doing and you are after something for nothing - you give people like me (a professional whinger) a bad name :rotfl:0 -
^ i agree, argos is best when it comes to smaller items, children toys and things like that....0

Surely it makes more moneysaving sense to ditch the dishwasher and buy some washing up gloves??

In the past I've found buying large white goods from some retailers can be difficult as the retailer themselves doesn't carry any stock. Often they have a "drop pick" arrangement with the manufacturer who actually fullfills the order.
So 2 years ago I ordered a samsung washing machine and got a similar run around with stock but they can only tell you what they're told by the manufacturer. Ultimately if they get let down so do you but probably not argos's fault directly.0 -
argos wont offer compensation until items are delivered - its always been like thatI'm having horrendous time with Argos - ordered dishwasher & washer on 5th September, more fool us, but we wanted them interest free, which i could get with argos card and nowhere else so took the plunge.

its basically so that if there are a number of delays you dont call up demanding £50 compensation or whatever each time something goes wrong.
once you have been given comp and something else messes up you will automatically expect comp again. its more 'well i got some last time you messed up...'
regarding stock being out one minute and in the next could be something as simple as the agent referring to an old stock sheet (they are updated every week as far as i remember)
white goods are delivered direct from suppliers - argos are just the middle man - so there is little they can do with getting you goods any quicker i'm afraid0 -
MMM. Since my m-i-l is buying the dishwasher for us and she is after the 0%, we either stick with it or go without the dishwasher - fine by me but there's 2 of us n oh wont budge. So after somethin for nothin - not really, only takin wot Argos is offering at the end of the day - nobody should have to wait this long for an appliance whatever the circumstances and since they've already charged both appliances to my m-i-l's card, technically, they would be gettin their money now if it wasn't 0% so why shouldn't we fight for some comp. If Argos do this on a regular basis, like it seems they do, they're makin a mint - we're just gettin what we can legally, which is wot this site's about???MARRIED MR E - 22nd Dec 2010 - technically now sazzye!:j

And there was me thinking this site was about Money Saving, not Money Making!!!!! - Seems very much like you really are after something for nothing - as of yet you can not seem to prove you have been inconvenienced, it is not as though they arranged a delivery day and then didnt turn up. They have told you item is out of stock, your choice now either to wait till item is back in stock or purchase it elsewhere.
I really can't see what you want compensation for? Even more of a mystery to me is why you feel you are even entitled to any compensation?0 -
its not like you can not do the washing up ! if it had been a washing machine maybe i would have felt differently [probably not],compensation IMO is not due because they did not fail to deliver as such and i believe you were aware of the lack of stock. i hope your mil can pay off during the 0% time frame because the interest on the card is astronomical. just my opinion but ive never understood the need for dishwashers !This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
