First Direct Interest Refund Old Loan

It’s been many years since we paid off the loan we had with Furst Direct so surprised to receive a letter telling us that they had reviewed their loans and found that they had overcharged Interest, and then stated the amount of refund due.
But no actual calculations as to where the overcharging came from, so how do we know it’s correct?
Anyone else had a letter from FD with the same?
