USB cable question

I bought the Sennheiser PXC 550 headphones a couple of years ago. I didn't always use the official cable charger that came with the headphones and after a year, they seemed to have a charging fault where they said they needed recharging but the app showed the battery was half full. Luckily the retailer exchanged them without an issue.

I have since always used the official USB charger that came with the headphones but have misplaced them (it will take a month to get a genuine replacement)!

Does anyone have thoughts on whether it will definitely be OK to use another USB cable charger given my previous issues (the manual also says the offical charger should always be used)?

The charger is a USB cable on one end and micro USB the other. In theory any cable should be fine but I think there is a small chance that not using the correct one caused the issues before.

Doubt the "not using the official cable" had anything to do with the original problem somehow, it'd have probably gone the same way even if you had used it.

There's nothing special about USB cables, they're all standard, mass-manufactured and dirt-cheap to boot. The one in the box is probably no different to one you can get out the pound shop.

Exactly! but if you really want to fuss about it ...

When being charged, the LED display lights up as indicated in the following table. When the battery charge drops to a low level, a voice prompt asks you to recharge the headphones.
It is recommended to charge the headphones using only the supplied USB cable. If you charge the headphones using an external USB power adapter, it is recommended to use an adapter with an output rating of 500 mA or higher

    USB's U is universal !

Technically, you need a very low 345mA capable USB cable. I would say technically any usb cable can do! as USB cable should accept 500mA very least as far as I know...) .

Smartphone fast charging cables accept 2A -2.4A so, PXC550 is very slow charging in today's standard.

BTW I have got a fast charging 1.8m Cable for my smartphone today from China. This cable may be too good for your PXC550, but this is the one of the best cables I have got, you might be interested ..

Thank you, to be honest I just don't want to wait 14 to 21 days for a genuine one (and even that is subject to stock apparently)! Will give a regular one a try.
