Saving Internationally with a Partner

Hey all!
I have a question that's I'm not sure anyone can help with, but thought I would thorw it into the field and see what comes back.
I am planning on moving abroad to join my fiance in the United States sometime within the next year, and we want to begin saving jointly for the costs towards the various applications and forms invovled. We're very serious about going ahead with this despite the long adn difficult path, but this is the latest brick wall.
Is there any kind of account where both myself and my partner can deposit money without incurring massive inetrnational funds transfer fees? I looked briefly at international / offshore accounts and they seem to have massive minimum investments and large monthly fees - not exactly suited to a couple looking to begin their road in life!
Any insights that anyone can offer would be MASSIVELY appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Chris
