Help Needed - Natwest Step Account

Options
Just applied for one of these on the internet.

What ID Would i need to send to them? As ive tried opening an account with these before and they didnt accept me even though i sent them a copy of my birth certificate and provisional licence and house bill's.

Would they accept the following :-

Birth Certificate - Copy
Provisional Licence - Copy
House Bill - Copy.

Comments

  • short answer - no - copies will not do, they need originals & it depends on your age as to whether you can use a birth certificate

basically, government guidelines since 9/11 have increased vigilance in ID requirements

    how old are you?
are you working or in receipt of benefit
are you a homeowner, live with parents or in non-private rented accommodation?

When you apply online, they usually send you a letter indicating that you bring your original ID documents to the branch.

address verification would be a recent utility bill that your parents pay as long as the surname is the same, or failing that the Bank can do a voters role check which is OK as long as you registered yourself to vote

UK passport in date is about the best ID you can have
  • When I applied online for a Step a/c about 2 months ago I did not have to supply any paper id as when you complete the application I assume it checks with the electoral roll and credit reference agency before offering you the choice of accounts in a drop down list I was only offered Step a/c which was what I wanted.
The proceedure is the same for RBS with no paper id required after applying online.
  • birth certificate is only usually accepted for under 18's

    inland renvenue tax code confirmation?

    electoral roll?

    bank account statement?
  • Just to add to that provisional driving licence is only accepted up to the age of 20 so as you are 21 they will not be able to accept that either.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
