Hi i wonder if someone can help me.
I am asking this question on behalf of my daughter.
She has recently started a 8 ours a week contract job at Outfit.
So far she has been there 6 weeks and has on average worked her 8 hour contract plus 25 hours overtime all at £7.05 a hour.
She lives with us and is 22 would she be entitled to any benefits if she only gets 8 hours work a week as may happen after Xmas?

Obviously whe she is on holiday she will also only get paid 8 hours leaving her very short.

Is she entitled to any benefits assistance?

The current standard allowance for Universal Credit for a single person under 25 is £251.77 per 4 weeks so she may get a little.

She would, however, be expected to sign a claimant commitment and be expected to look for work for 35 hrs a week.

The waiting time for payment on first claim is 5/6 weeks.

I am assuming that she is single, has no dependent children, no disabilities and no savings over £6000.
