    Hi,

I'm really struggling right now, it's not even half way through the month and I'm posting my last update for April :'( I had planned to be debt free by the end of May and then start saving for the wedding next year but now I'm only a third of the way there and my boyfriend's due me £1800, £1000 of which has been added to my CC and not part of my debt busting... I'm sure it'll get better soon as he's back in a job now but I'm in such a funk about it, every year I try and get rid of this debt and every year I end up back doing this challenge again :(

I think you're doing great. We're a third of the way through the year and you're a third of the way through your original target so on track to get there by the end of the year :)

£525 paid off the credit card this month. Assuming I finish this this year its interest free, and £525 every month will pay it off in November (with an extra £20 or so that month needed).

So I have now paid £4445.12 of my starting debt of £8143.84 (which I work out at 54.6%) which is the lowest I have seen my debt in years. And now I have a genuine plan in place to pay it off, I can finally see the light!

Just heard that my union has called off strike action, so I'm now able to put some of the money I've been saving up for living expenses towards my debts instead. Have sent £1066 to the Halifax card, so am back on track for now.

Its easy to beat yourself up. Trust me Ive been there, but just remember every penny you pay off is another penny you never need to deal with again.
This is a marathon, not a sprint :) slow and steady wins the race (or in my case 5th time lucky)

  • Hi all,

#92 here checking in with a payment of £317.75 (Capital one credit card payment of £132.75 ,plus 2x bank charges of £95 each!)

    = £2,338.18 paid in total!
I am going to get those charges again im sure so im going to make sure the money is in for the last month for them to take it and also cancel direct debits and pay over the phone so that I don't get hit with them bouncing again. That will mean I will be £190 up every month going forwards.
Capital one needs to GO!! It stands at £3.2k so a lot to shift but I cant keep paying the min payment of £132 each month!

Have a fun filled saturday everyone

    Morning all!

First of all, well done to everyone - you are ALL doing so well. I haven't been on for a few weeks as I have taken on extra work in order to pay off these debts quicker.
