Noisy PC and RAID?

Hello,
Sometimes when I use my PC the tower makes a really loud noise for about 2 or 3 seconds a time, about every ten seconds. It sounds like the fan inside is being speeded up?
But when this noise happens, when i go to shut down my PC, i get an 'End Now' message from a .exe file which i believe to be the raid controller?
Has anyone has experience of this problem?
Matt

First off, are you sure you don't have a CD/DVD in the drive, that can sound loud. Otherwise, post up the exact message when you see it.0

Thanks guy,
A box saying program cannot be shut down, end now comes up and the program is Uli5287.exe and my raid controller is Uli SATA Controller (M1573)?
Although i have noticed when i double click and open the raid icon in the system tray there's no information on it, all the boxes are empty.
Thanks for your help.0
