Everyone has been so ridiculously helpful!, thanks so much! I’m a young adult who hasn’t encountered these problems before, which makes me sound useless but sadly I haven’t anyone else to ask! I’ve had to get someone in to disconnect my dishwasher. It’s frustrating as my dad use to be a plumber&handyman. There’s only so much google can tell me
Now I need to figure out how to fix a leaking cistern. All these bills seem crazy high. Thanks everyone for all the advise!

Try looking at YouTube - there's loads of "how to do it" info on there

As Dave says, loads of Youtube, and a leaking cistern is one of the easier jobs, trust me, I've done loads in my time

Sky high to some is low to others. What is your annual consumption in kWH not £; what is your tariff.

Priorities !!!!!!!!!!!!!! - your leaking cistern is costing you little compared with your "sky high" electricity.

Your answers to the above would be appreciated.

OP, you asked for advice but seem to be ignoring it, because what you will spend on paying someone to disconnect it (I'm guessing £20-£30 minimum charge?) will be far more than it could ever cost running in standby per year, if it even uses standby power, which I doubt. Assuming it's a hardwired FCU, all you need to do is turn off the circuit and remove the fuse-no need to remove the flex at all. Although it would be cheaper to use it rather than wash up by hand. The likely annual cost is no more than £30-£40.
Leaking cistern is usually caused a faulty valve or diaphragm.

HelloDolly - I am disappointed. You appear to have wasted this forum's time.

You come to this forum on a Sunday morning seeking advise, talking about your electricity and water bills and your dishwasher. You get lots of good advice suggesting you keep the dishwasher yet by yesterday evening you have got held of a tradesman and DISCONNECTED it.
