I stuck some milk in the freezer for the first time (ever) last Monday, was ferreting around in there and noticed that it had turned yellow (looks like frozen pee to be honest) I freaked out and flung it in the bin
, just discovered that now it's melting it's turning white again, so my question is....does it always turn yellow and now it's defrosting/ed is it safe to use?
Thank You

Thank You

Yep, perfectly normal and perfectly safe to drink. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Thanks so much, milky coffees all round then, cause now I've got 10 pints to use up instead of 60

I tell you I got the shock of my life, I thought I was growing something that's never been identified before  at least now I know lol0

It's a pity they don't tell you on the container isn't it? I had a shock the first time too.Resolution:

Don't feel bad. I never knew until I read this thread that you could freeze milk!
Not sure when I ever would, though. I mean, it's not like I ever find it on such an incredible sale that I'd make room for it in my freezer. Still, it's something I'll remember should that ever happen!:beer:0 -
BTW, can you freeze cream? Single cream? Double cream? How about sour cream? Buttermilk? Creme Fraisch? Those are the sorts of things I'd like to be able to freeze!:beer:0

I have mixed results when freezing milk, sometimes it is ok and other times it developes a bitter taste. It's just pot luck as to how it turns out IMO. I have never tried freezing single cream or creme fraiche but do sucessfully freeeze double cream, although I always whip it and pipe it into rosettes before freezing. HTHLife's a beach! Hiya, single cream doesn't freezer too well, apparently - i think it's because of the low amount of fat (don't ask me about skim milk, 'cause I don't know how that works though
) .
As has been said before, it's funny you should post this as I nearly died when I saw what had become of my lovely milk that I got (reduced to 10p/2pints), lol.
