Perhaps cancel the insurance & tax until its returned?

Once cancelled, use 101 to inform police that your ex is driving around in an uninsured vehicle?

Is your ex actually insured to drive the car? You say it’s insured in your name but is he a named driver? Also if the car is no longer kept where you told the insurance company it is kept then any policy may be void.

No practical advice other than: If the insurance is cancelled and then the car is damaged etc you have no way to claim....

Not helpful but I hope you get it resolved soon.

He didn't take it without consent though, and sadly for the OP this is purely a civil dispute, a relationship breakdown doesn't suddenly create a theft. The police will not get involved.

Do you have a spare key, and do you know where the vehicle is likely to be kept/parked ?

It does not matter who the car is registered to, who pays for the tax or insurance.

The only thing that matters is who the owner is.

Does anyone know the difference between 101 and 999!! Look it up.

In most forces nowadays they are answered by the same call takers - the only difference is the way the calls get prioritised in the queuing system.

    Hello

I am looking for advice. Long story but relationship has ended a while ago and I am left with a mess. Took out a car loan for about 10 grand in my name, insurance is in my name tax in my name the whole lot in my name. Ex partner was not working and did not pay for any of it. His disappeared with car and can’t get car back it doesn’t pay for any of it and never has. Yea stupid I know but I’ve had hell from this man who has lied to me from day one. Basically a lying drug addict with one hell of a past I did not know about. Yip live and learn and I am suffering the emotional and mental scars of being with a mentally abuse lying partner. I have asked for the car back over and over but get no where, his above the law so threats of police have no affect. Police are not interested. Any ideas what can I do.... and not do. I am sick of it all and want away from it all.

Please some friendly supportive advice is what I need

Did you take out a car loan or a loan for a car?

ie, did you take out finance against the car, or was it a personal loan which you used to buy a car?
