Future of light bulbs, B22 Bayonet or E27 Screw

As M0ch4 said, bayonet are superior though losing out. When you have to remove screw fittings, especially in recessed lights, you realise how much better they are.
Then there is the other problem of ES fittings making poor contact on the centre tab that tends not to spring back after some time. Either not working at all or flickering and killing your new bulb even faster.0 -
Just been replacing my lamps with b22 LED's.
About to do my dawn to dusk one with a cheap Ebay LED one which you may be interested in :https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dusk-Till-Dawn-Sensor-9W-LED-Light-Bulb-B22-or-E27-A60-Security-Light-Bulbs/401554795486?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=671277090767&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l26490 -
Well India use B22 bayonets, so that's 1.1 billion.0

I have noticed there seems to be a lot of screw fittings in the shops these days. I have wondered about whether there is a change over to screw fitting by desk lamp manufacturers. Several lamps in charity shops and car boot sales I have seen have screw fittings.
I suspect that hidden lights in ceilings and special fittings are all screw type now, so people are used to dealing with them now.
You can buy adaptors on Amazon and Ebay for about £2. I bought one just so that I can have a choice. They work fine in most situations. They extend the fitting and might not work well with small shades.0
