CTRL Alt Delete together to open Task Manager and end all the firefox sessions.

I guess this was a 'dodgy' streaming site? I'd never click on anything that pops up on this type of site. Occasional 'lock ups' seem to be the trade off for watching streamed stuff 'illegally' !

The only way you could legally watch such a BBC programme, would be by using BBC iPlayer, from the BBC website. Was that what you were using?
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

I think it’s on iTunes as well.

Speaking from a position of total ignorance here (my son tells me what to update & when - known to all outsiders as my IT advisor). But wasn't there a big Firefox update just over a week ago which had a big problem with no script. Could this be causing the issues. Please remember I did plead ignorance!!

moz-alerts.com looks like a malicious site, its only been registered a week

    Domain:moz-alerts.com
    Registrar:Internet Domain Service BS Corp
    Registration Date:2017-11-25
    Expiration Date:2018-11-25
    Updated Date:2017-11-25
    Status:clientTransferProhibited
    Name Servers:ns-canada.topdns.com
    ns-uk.topdns.com
    ns-usa.topdns.com

and the owners are masking everything out behind a privacy gateway, all the signs of a dodgy site.

Trying to understand why a DNS lookup gives a loopback to yourself of 127.0.0.1

www. moz-alerts.com is certainly a suspect site.

Its serving IP address appears to be 46.19.136.186

This IP address has so far been reported twenty times to AbuseIPDB as being engaged in abusive activity, ranging from fake Firefox scams and attempted installation of Firefox extensions to the delivery of ransomware.

Me too, although 127.0.0.1 can be used by malware to modify the hosts file to stop users from contacting genuine anti-malware security sites following infection.
