Hi hiddenshadow. Please could you put me down for £2,500 for 2018? I've been MIA for most of 2017 but have managed to make another payment today. Don't mind what number I have this time.

Happy New Year to everyone _party__party__party_

Welcome back. :) If you don't mind numbers, could you be #84?

That leaves michelle09 free to be #28, hopefully avoiding scrolling issues.
  • Can I join this please?

I don’t currently have a mortgage, but I’m looking to purchase a place within the next year, so any help and encouragement I can get towards saving a deposit and, when I finally get a place, overpaying the future mortgage would be great!

My aim at the moment is to save £900 a month towards my deposit.

I also have an appointment with a mortgage advisor next month. Exciting times ahead. :T

    Welcome! You're #96. :)
  • Hi Hiddenshadow
Thanks for this thread. I would appreciate if I could join please. I would like to reduce mortgage by £12000 this year please (£6600 over payment and the remainder is capital payments as part of my monthly repayment amount).
    Many thanks
    :)

    Welcome! You're #169. :)

Hi hiddenshadow I'm back for another year, many thanks for allocating me the same number again :D

My target for 2018 is a rather optimistic one of £40,000 - probably won't get near but I'm giving it a go.

Thanks for doing this again for us all - happy new year

  • No 3 here in for another year please.

Thanks hiddenshadow for running this again

I won't be working full time next year so am going for a small amount until I see how finances are.

    £1800 target please

  • Welcome! You're #145. :)

(My $0.02 on achieving targets - I opt to "pay myself first"...first by contributing to my pension because employer also contributes, but next by making my ideal OP to my mortgage on the 1st of the month. It does run the risk of something coming up during the month that could have used that OP money, but I assume that most things could be covered with a credit card, meaning I could skip next month's OP to pay for it. I also have an EF. By making the OP early in the month, I know that money is committed so I'm not tempted to have that takeaway just because I'm tired/lazy, or buy something I don't need, because I've already sent that money to the mortgage.)

Thanks for this. My pension comes out automatically but usually make my overpayment on the last day of the month with whatever is left in my account but this is a different perspective on it. Just going thru overpayments for the last year and working out how much I could afford to pay a month and then a stretch target for each month. Then may bite the bullet and set up a monthly over payment.
