Paying bills by cash

Hi all, not sure if this is right place, so apologies if not.
I have bills I would like to pay with good old cash so I don't have to pay the cash into the bank. My credit card co sends paper bills with giros attached to make payments at the PO or your bank, but the PO tell me they don't allow them to be used anymore and I don't have a branch of my bank locally. Any ideas?

Someone must know if you can pay a credit card bill with the giro attached to the bill statement0

Your bank might take it. They might not - in particular Santander and Nationwide don't do so at all. Another bank you don't have an account with may take it, but they will probably charge you for doing so - usually £5 or £10.
If your bank doesn't take them and you don't want to pay another bank, you can't pay your bill with cash.urs sinserly,

You could pay the cash into your bank via the PO (most but not all banks allow this with the right card and/or paying in slip) then pay the credit card from your bank account by faster payment or direct debit or phone banking or cheque.
Go to https://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-banking-services
and click on "withdraw and deposits" for details.0 -
On the back of my bill it says to fill in the giro and take it to the Post office, why tell you thi sif the PO won't accept them? It makes no sense, surely if the PO refuse them, someone must have contacted my credit card provider to tell them this0

It might be that the PO you tried won't do it, I believe there are different levels of pay-in processing at different POs. There's another active thread on this board that contains a link to the PO website page where you can check what you can do at a particular PO, so have a look for that.0 -
It might help if you name the credit card provider. Without that information, all we can do is guess.0

Unfortunately the credit card company can't make the PO take them.
Does the slip have a logo on it saying "TransCash" anywhere? If not, then it can't be taken at any Post Office.urs sinserly,

It's Vanquis Bank for the credit card. It has Santander Corporate banking in top left corner, transcash next to it, followed by Bank Giro Credit. It also says Natwest Automated Bulk Credit Clearing, Vanquis Bank and then and acc number.0 -
As other posters have told you - pay the cash in at a post office then pay using internet banking from your bank.
The details of how to pay will be on the reverse of your credit card statement.0 -

That's the point I am asking about, on the back of the statement it tells you to fill in the giro and take to PO but I was told by a neighbour that they don't take them0
