Paint Runner System - any good

its like a paint roller where you can fill up the head with paint, so you don't have to use a tray. It extends as well so you can reach hard-to-get-at areas, and includes a special edger so you don't have to use masking tape. The blurb promises it will seriously cut down your decorating time and 'ensures an even finish'.
I think I've seen it being advertised on TV shopping channels before but now they are offering it as a 'Guardian' reader offer. At £29.99 its still quite pricey but if it works as well as they say I'm thinking of getting it.
Has anyone used one and what did you think - worth it or not?

I've got one, its ok but I wouldn't rave about it. The main benefit is that it doesn't splatter the paint like a conventional roller but they are quite heavy when they are full of paint and its a real fiddly mess keep filling them up all the time. I haven't used the edging roller though. I wouldn't bother TBH.
I never use it now.0 -
bought one from dagenham market today for 20 quid got lots of rooms to paint so thought it was a good idea will let you know how i get on with it.Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

I used to use rollers and got fed up of being splatted by drops. My mum came up to help paint and flatly refused to use the roller, sending me out to buy "sponges". Its basically a foam pad on a handle. Oh MY God, 1/4 of the time to paint the walls, one coat only and no bobbling on the walls or splatter. Never, ever, ever, ever going to use rollers again. Its these foam pads (about 2 quid each) every time.
Try it and see. You still need a tray to put the paint in though.0 -
Hi we bought something similar from betterware and i must say it was awful,it said to dilute the paint a bit so it goes through easier,we made it too runny and then it was too thick the next lot, just made alot of mess and wish i hadnt bothered we threw it out after that as seemed to waste so much paint trying to get it right.Used paint pads years ago and agree these were good with alot less mess.wendy x0

Dont bother, very heavy, takes ages to rinse out,not a great finnish, only used mine once, wont be useing it again, if I do it will only be for the garden fence, Sticking to Paint pads.
Def not worth the money.0 -
Thanks for letting me know. Seems the consensus of opinion is paint runner = not worth it. I won't be getting one now!

A normal, good quality lambs wool roller is far better, used carefully it will not spatter.0

Bought one recently and the spare roller and corner tool were damaged. Used the main one and stick and not really impressed - still dripped a bit and still a pain to clean whatever they say. As I was sending the damaged bits back, I decided to send it all and claim the refund. Waited a couple of weeks and they sent me a replacement(!) I phoned and spoke to someone who took all the details and promised a call back which never came. Rang again the following week and spoke to the person who deals with refunds (must get quite a few then?!) who looked through the pile and found mine - she said she'd been on holiday for a couple of weeks and the refunds would be done that week. However, if the director didn't come into the office, the cheque couldn't be signed and he was then going on holiday! I queried if he was the only one authorised to sign cheques and she confirmed he was. A handwritten and signed cheque arrived a week later. I was surprised that it was such a small firm considering the amount of advertising I've seen for the product - if it was outstanding I'd say 'good for them' but I really think they're relying on us not claiming the refund for not being happy with the product. Come on Moneysavers!!0
