I am cautious about creating obessions with the boys as much as I am about making them aware. Things can easily take over their lives so I have to approach issues like this with extreme caution, like with the washing machine, my son refused to eat, sleep etc for 2 days because he seen me do a service wash (with the dishcloths in) at higher than 30.
ah... ok not such a good idea then.... do get that gadget for DP though!
Morwenna -Harumph... my DD1 already said my Xmas list was too boring, and I had only put cookery books and gadgets on there. Can anyone point me to a good hypnotherapist??
that made laugh! only last night were dh and I discussing my christmas present... I have asked that instead of spending money (or much of it!) he could finish my greenhouse for me (needs glazing sorting) or build the raised beds and help me clear the front garden..... I got told that these were boring presents and he wanted to buy me something (aka a gadget) that he could use... and no... a dehydrator was not allowed....... :rolleyes:0 -
19.583 units per day electricity (470 used in the 24 days)
1.75 units per day gas (42 used in the 24 days)
Wait a minute, this says on the gas bill, Units 42, meter readings were 367 then 409. Domestic Standard 1357@2.596 = £35.23, hmm have they charged me for way too much or am I reading this wrong? The electricity one where it says Domestic Standard says 470@8.856 = £41.62 ok maybe not, there is an explaination on how to work it out I think, oh no I am lost,...god I am confused!
Prices with that provider were from Scottish Power, which has a standing charge. It's in the process of being switched to NPower Northern (hence this final bill) but I have a feeling it might be more expensive even if they don't have a standing charge.
We've been there with the 'But that's stuff for the house' about my list, grrr, if it's what I want then why not! He gave me a voucher 2 years ago with an ornament saying he'd put shelves up for it, he put them up last week, so gestures like that don't go very far.One day I might be more organised...........

Dee, you are going to have to be restrained!
I HAVE an Xmas Tree tin I now need a snowman one! And probably a dehydrator and a Panny..

:rotfl: Your xmas list sounds just like mineTheres probably a lot of poor hubbies/partners out there cursing me as this is supposed to be a moneysaving site!! Its taken me years to accumulate all my gadgets but I do see them as an investment (tell any doubting OH's that one;) ) as in the long term they have all paid for themselves tenfold and continue to save me money everytime I use them

Hmm, have to convince the children!! DD1 doesn't cook at all, DS does.. he will get me what I ask for, but DD1 wants me to have less "boring" things. We need to convert her!!0 -
You could always get her to buy you something and give you the reciept incase it doesn't fit like a new hat, or basque or something OTT and not boring, then take it back, buy what you like with the refund
great way of getting round the relatives who insist you like what they buy you when you don't.
More I read the more this stupid gas bill is confuzzling mebah! What on earth is a Calorific Value (it's not food!) and a 'Volume Correction'? Off for a google I think. Darn call centre for them is shut so will have to figure it out myself.
One day I might be more organised...........

I told DH that if anyone wanted any bright ideas for me for Christmas, I'd LOVE it if someone would buy some tins of paint and volunteer some time to come and help paint various rooms in our house. Everywhere needs redecorating and time / money are things we dont have too much of in our house. MrB gave me one of those funny looks as if to say "Ok, I dont understand, but if you're sure you're sure I'll put it on the list. Just dont shout at me if you end up with lots of paint and no presents to open" :rotfl:
Bless him.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -

Were these actual reads or just estimated? Sorry, don't mean to take up this
thread with this0 -
All done on actual readings Morwenna. 367 and 409 were the readings. Got the A thing next to them. I'm hoping D&DD doesn't mind it being her thread, if it's a problem could PM of course. However might help others at the same time.
I'm going to try Thrifty Lady's chocolate pudding recipe, I don't dare make it tonight to reheat or I will eat it all
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1665847&postcount=338 looks yummy!
D&DD I was going through the GF recipe book I got from the library which states to use GF baking powder, gives a recipe for it, I was unaware that baking powder wasn't GF!One day I might be more organised...........

Don't be daft:D I don't mind!! I'd love to know the calorific thingummys too as it says it on our bill..another thought lil_me I try to use all the shelves in the oven when I cook stuff eg shepherds pie I'll stick 4 fruit pies for the freezer on the top shelf,Sh.pie on the middle and a couple of cheese and potato pies on the bottom shelf and base of the oven for freezing.. I never only use one shelfSaves on fuel as they only have to be heated through then
If I put the steamer on I fill it up with puds or roly polys and freeze whats not for dinner too and that choccie pud looks
Morwenna what about a cookery day somewhere?
lil_me supercook do a gluten free one and a normal one I always get the GF one same price and no difference to rising etc.. really only difference is the lid is red on one and white on the other0 -
I wonder which mine are then, all supercook ones, will check later.
This gives a recipe for GF baking powder of 4oz rice flour, 2oz bicarb & 2 oz tartaric acid, seive all together several times and put into airtight container. Wonder with all the baking you do if it'd work out cheaper to make your own.
Cookery day is a good idea, I was thinking of a sewing machine as I would love to be more crafty, but the thought of will I use it and can I (last time I had a go I was at school) scares me.One day I might be more organised...........
