My son has been claiming DLa for approx 18 months but Can anyone tell me if I can claim back pay on my sons DLA payment from when I first adopted him 12 years ago?

Not sure what your question is since you mention Carer's Allowance in your title.
DLA cannot be backdated. The payment will only be made from the date of the application (18 months ago?)
